The Lawndale Lending Library is an arts lending library that builds relationships between art lovers and contemporary artists in support of contemporary artists. Now in its sophomore year, the Library allows Studio Circle and Household Level Lawndale Members the opportunity to borrow and purchase the artwork of regional artists for select periods throughout the year.

Join former HCCC resident artist Rebecca Braziel to learn the fundamental stitches used in embroidery in this beginner level workshop. First, discover how to create a line drawing and transfer it to a kitchen towel. Then, select from a variety of colored embroidery threads to bring your drawing to life. Get expert tips from Rebecca as you create your embroidery. At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a finished tea towel, needle, and embroidery hoop, so you’re ready for your next project!
No experience necessary. Supplies will be provided. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fee includes instructor, materials, and administration fees. The class is for adults only (age 18 and over) and requires a minimum of 5 participants to hold.

We rolled up our sleeves for an afternoon of simple stitching, inspired by Lutisha Pettway’s remarkable denim “Bars” Quilt in the exhibition Mending: Craft and Community—Selections from the Museum’s Collection.
The afternoon began with a look at what “mending” and “community” mean in the world of contemporary craft, and how the artists in the exhibition have interpreted these concepts. In the hands-on activity that followed, I demonstrated how to use simple stitches to create beautiful, textural art out of recycled denim.

"Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) is delighted to present the 10th edition of In Residence, an annual exhibition celebrating its Artist Residency Program, which has supported makers in the field of craft for more than 16 years. Members of the Galveston community and surrounding areas are invited to take part in the creation of new work made of fabric and wire in the form of a creeping trellis. The resulting piece will be on view June 2 – July 8, 2018 in the exhibition Other Edens in GAC’s main gallery.
This Exhibit Connect will take place April 28th 1-4 PM in the beautiful classroom at Galveston Arts Center. It is free and open to the public.

"The Big Show is an ambitious annual exhibition of new work by artists practicing within a 100-mile radius of Lawndale. This year, Lawndale was excited to welcome Toby Kamps, former Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Menil Collection and soon-to-be Director and Chief Curator of the Blaffer Art Museum, as juror. Kamps reviewed work by 549 artists – the most artists to submit their work in the history of The Big Show - and selected nearly 200 works for the exhibition."
This two-person solo show will feature my work in the back gallery and Robby Scott's paintings in the front gallery. The exhibition will showcase a few favorites from my beaded tree bark series focusing on the effects of wildfires in America and the process of regeneration after a natural disaster.

Rebecca Braziel recieves the Individual Artist Grant by the City of Houston and Houston Art Alliance! This $5,000 grant will fund the continuation of The Creeping Vine Project and result in a large scale fiber installation created by members of the Houston Community. Wilchester Elementary School hosted their annual Art Expo Day featuring The Creeping Vine Project. This was a great opportunity to have roughly 800 students from grades pre-k to 5th learn about the project and contribute by adding fabric strips to the wire backing.
